Chavra D'Hilchisa Marks Chag HaSiyum, Celebrating a Year of Amelus B'Torah

Last Sunday evening, many of this year’s talmidim of Chavra D’Hilchisa gathered together with Rabbanim and family members in Lakewood, New Jersey, for the annual Chavra D’Hilchisa Chag HaSiyum, celebrating a full year of dedicated learning and achievement in halachah.

The evening marked the culmination of a full year of consistent amelus baTorah by talmidim from near and far who committed themselves to mastering either taaruvos, basar b’chalav, niddah, Shabbos b’iyun or Shabbos l’maaseh. Through weekly shiurim, extensive review, carefully prepared learning materials and bechinos, close to one hundred participants worked not simply to cover material, but to acquire genuine clarity and a kinyan in the halachos they studied.

Chavra D’Hilchisa, under the leadership of HaRav Daniel Glatstein, Shlita, was created to give serious lomdim the ability to learn complex areas of halachah b’iyun while emerging with a clear understanding of practical halachah l’maaseh. The program brings together accomplished maggidei shiur with participants who, despite the demands of work, family and daily life, dedicate themselves to maintaining a rigorous and consistent seder halimud throughout the year.

One of the maggidei shiur, HaRav Simcha Bunim Londinski, Shlita, spoke of the talmidim’s unique accomplishment in learning without the professional obligations of a Rav or maggid shiur. Their commitment, he noted, reflects a pure form of Torah lishmah. He explained that halachah b'iyun goes beyond acquiring information; it develops an understanding of each shailah, its underlying reasoning and its practical application, making the Torah part of the person himself.

HaRav Daniel Glatstein, Shlita, paid tribute to the maggidei shiur and spoke about the transformative power of limud halachah b’iyun. Citing Rav Yisrael Salanter, he explained that Torah learned with depth becomes a kinyan nafsho, shaping the person himself. Several talmidim also shared words of appreciation and reflection on their year of learning.

HaRav Shmuel D. Bernath, Shlita, and HaRav Avraham Slansky, Shlita, maggidei shiur of Chavra D’Hilchisa, also shared divrei chizuk and joined in honoring the talmidim and their accomplishments.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of certificates to the talmidim who successfully completed their respective programs and bechinos. Those who completed two years of study in the halachos of taaruvos and basar b’chalav under HaRav Daniel Glatstein, Shlita, were presented with a Keser Halachah certificate. The sense of accomplishment was shared by the talmidim, their families and the maggidei shiur who had accompanied them throughout the year.

The talmidim and maggidei shiur look forward to the coming year of Chavra D’Hilchisa, which will offer several of the same popular courses along with new areas of limud halachah, including Mikvaos and Choshen Mishpat.
